Social media giant, Meta, has expanded its AI assistant services to the UK and Brazil, following its launch in the US and Australia.
The move, delayed by regulatory testing, now sees Facebook and Instagram users in the UK accessing the AI chatbot through an icon in their apps or by purchasing specially designed Ray-Ban frames.
These AI-boosted sunglasses, modelled by Meta co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, feature a voice assistant, however, the celebrity voice assistant option will not be available in the UK.
In the current phase of the rollout, Meta aims to help users get answers, generate creative content and share ideas more readily with local and global networks.
However, this progress comes with controversy, as a viral campaign, including celebrities like James McAvoy and Tom Brady, attempted to block Meta from using users' posts to train its AI tools.
UK users seeking to stop this practice must fill out an objection form found in the apps' privacy settings.
In addition, Meta revealed development of a new AI model, Movie Gen, capable of creating realistic audio and video clips, but it is not yet publicly available.
